Talim Arab was born in London and grew up in Australia. He studied English Literature and Chinese at the University of Queensland. His poetry was Highly Commended by the 2006 Arts Queensland Thomas Shapcott Award for an Unpublished Manuscript and received third place in the 2001 Arts Queensland Val Vallis Award for Unpublished Poetry; he won the State Library of Queensland Younger Writers Award (2006). His short story “Toe Deep in Water” was published in the US magazine Pif. He is currently studying an MA in Creative Writing at Birkbeck and his short story, “Polynya,” was published in The Mechanics Institute Review (2014). He has completed his first novel about the 1987 Fijian Coup d’État.
