Rachel Parsons is a Brooklyn-based educator and writer. After spending eight years teaching math in the New York City public schools, she decided to do something completely different. She is now pursuing an MFA in creative nonfiction at Sarah Lawrence College, where she is Editor-in-Chief of LUMINA, the graduate writing program’s literary magazine. When she is not reading, writing or tutoring kids, she loves dancing, yoga, meditation, and pursuing her career as an undercover rock star in karaoke bars throughout Manhattan. Her favorite writers are James Baldwin, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Cheryl Strayed, Sarah Schulman and Audre Lord.
